How to Reboot your Online Presence
Most small business found 2020 very challenging. As a result, a lot of small businesses are thinking about the best way to reboot their online presence.
This is especially true as some have had to pivot to meet the challenges that the Covid-19 restrictions have brought.
There are a lot of ways to improve your online presence. The following are just a few of them:
1. Start with what you know
The best place to start is with any data you already have. For example, if you have run a Google Ads or SEO campaign you should have some data. By looking at this data you will get an idea of what has worked and what hasn’t worked.
It will also get you thinking about what your goals are when it comes to your online presence reboot.
2. Review your website
If your website is more than a few years old, then you need to caste a critical eye over it to see if it is still up to scratch. For example, does it still look appealing or a bit dated? One of the best ways to do this is to look at the websites of some of your competitors.
As well, has your website kept up with changes to your small business. It may be that the focus of your small business has changed but has your website been updated to reflect this?
3. Don't spread yourself too thin
Most small businesses have a budget when it comes to online marketing. This can make it difficult – especially when it comes to social media. This is because there are now so many social media channels and many make the mistake thinking that they have to be on every one of them.
The best way to start is to work out the demographics of your customers. If you have a younger audience then maybe something like TikTok is the way to go. Alternatively, if you are selling mostly to other businesses then LinkedIn is a great option.
4. For quick results
Google Ads is a great option if you are looking for quick results. However, you can extend paid advertising to Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and even LinkedIn. Just remember where you decide to spent your budget, that it matches the demographics to get the best return.
5. Looking to the longer term
By far, the best way to get results in the long term is SEO. However, you do have to be patient. There are many reasons why you need a long term view when it comes to SEO. The first reason is that Google is constantly changing its algorithms. This means what works one day doesn’t work the next day.
Also, a lot of your competitors are also working on their own SEO strategies – so getting onto page one of search results takes a lot of work. However, when you get there, it leads to an increase in visitors to your website and ultimately conversions.
This is especially true as people often think a business that gets into top results for SEO is more credible than one who gets there with Google Ads.
